Field Service Engineer

NeuCo, Inc. provides optimization software solutions that help electric power plants reduce emissions and improve operating efficiency and reliability in real time. NeuCo is the industry's leading provider of boiler optimization systems, which use advanced artificial intelligence technologies including neural networks to reduce NOx emissions and improve fuel efficiency by streamlining and coordinating the combustion and sootblowing processes within the plant's boiler.

NeuCo is actively seeking experienced engineers to join our growing Boston-based team to lead projects and work with NeuCo's customer base within the power industry. The overall objectives for the position are to work with the Applications and Customer Support Teams to execute high quality projects and maintain customer satisfaction (please note: these are applications engineering, not software development projects).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the establishment of technical objectives, work plans and schedules for projects
  • Maintain regular customer contact and manage customer expectations
  • Interface with third-party vendors for key tasks in the project plan
  • Work with the project team to execute key project steps:
    • Deploy AI solutions for the customer
    • Conduct benefits analysis after deployment
    • Achieve successful project closeout
    • Provide operator/engineer training on the use of the system
    • Create software documentation (User Manual/User Guide)
  • Meet project deadlines and ensure quality
  • Issue regular progress reports to project team
  • Provide customer support
  • Deliver solutions within the scope of the Maintenance Agreements

Requirements:

  • BS (ME, EE or ChE) -- Advanced degrees would be a plus
  • Based in Boston, Cleveland, or Austin
  • 5-8 years experience
  • Minimum 60% travel
  • Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with computer hardware & Windows-based software
  • Experience with industrial process control systems
  • Experience with data historians (PI, InSQL, others) and OPC
  • Experience applying neural networks to industrial processes
  • Experience with instrumentation & control systems (e.g. Bailey, Westinghouse, Foxboro)
  • Operating experience in power plants
  • Modeling experience with industrial systems
